What is bacteriostatic water?

Mixing Water with bacteriostatic preservative is a sterile, nonpyrogenic preparation of Water for injection that contains 0.9 percent (9 mg/mL) of benzyl alcohol added as a bacteriostatic preservative.

The pH level is at 5.7. (4.5 to 7.0).

Keep the temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F).

Water that is Bacterially Stable:

Bacteriostatic water is the second type of water that is utilised in the pharmaceutical industry for mixing and injecting drugs. Water that has been sterilised and also includes benzyl alcohol is referred to as bacteriostatic water. Bacteriostatic is a term that refers to the effect that the benzyl alcohol in the water will have on preventing the growth of bacteria. When properly stored, Bacteriostatic Water has a shelf life of up to 28 days after the bottle has been opened.

Sterile Water:

Sterile Water is used for any application that requires Water to be devoid of bacteria, fungi, and spores. Sterile Water is also known as ultrapure water. The use of water that has been sterilised decreases the risks for contamination. This is vital if you are combining or injecting medication, as well as in laboratory research, since the microorganisms that are present in water that has not been sterilised will alter the results. Sterile water can be utilised for the mixing of pharmaceuticals as well as the injection of these drugs, provided that the water is only used once. When a sterile bottle or container is opened, the water inside is immediately exposed to the environment and runs the risk of becoming contaminated. Because it does not contain any preservatives that could extend its shelf life, Sterile Water should only be used for purposes that require a single dose.
